Labradorite Properties

Labradorite is a very popular stone; famous for flashing colors like green, blue, gold, orange, gray, yellow, and sometimes purple. Dark until it catches the light, this crystal is just asking to be handled and gawked over!

Most everybody recognizes the colorful flash when they see it, even if they aren’t familiar with the name or the metaphysical properties.

“Labradorite can take you into another world or into other lives. A stone of esoteric knowledge, it facilitates initiation into the mysteries.” – Judy Hall *

Most healers believe labradorite to be one of the top energetic protectors in the entire mineral kingdom. It’s also known to enhance intuitive abilities, as well as communicating with our Spirit Guides.

Labradorite is a stone of magic, other worlds, and intuition–it’s inherently spiritual and powerful.

If you are a psychic, past life regression therapist, or a medium, there is no better stone for you to work with. It can help keep you grounded and protected while elevating the spiritual experience.

This is probably my all-time favorite crystal–I have several large polished pieces and several more wearable pendants. It’s gorgeous, affordable, and very useful in healing. I just adore the magical qualities and spiritual nature of this stone. The way it brings out the best in everyone and everything is unique in crystal healing.

Labradorite Healing Properties

The Inuit people are indigenous to northern Canada, with their culture extending to parts of Greenland and Alaska. According to legend, an Inuit warrior was out exploring when he suddenly saw what he believed to be Aurora Borealis “trapped” within the rocks that lined the coast.

This was significant for the warrior, because the Inuit believed the spirits of their ancestors could be seen within Aurora Borealis. The warrior freed the “lights” using his spear and brought the magical stone back to his village for healing and intuitive insight.

The Inuit people believed that labradorite was not just a stone of magnificent magic, but was also the frozen, solid form of Aurora Borealis.

The history books tell us that labradorite was officially discovered in Labrador, Canada by Morvian missionaries in 1770. However, Inuit lore implies that these people were well-aware of the stone’s existence long before the missionaries showed up.

Labradorite Benefits

Looking for a crystal that can offer ample amounts of protection? Look no further! Labradorite has the awesome ability to absorb negative energy (either around us or within our aura), which makes it a perfect pocket stone. Also an excellent choice for preventing energy leaks in our auras, like a metaphysical drain plug. Overall this crystal offers lots of energetic protection, especially for psychics and during healing sessions.

“Labradorite is a useful companion through change, imparting strength and perseverance. A stone of transformation, it prepares body and soul for the ascension process.”

Judy Hall **

Because humanity is moving into a higher vibrational existence, labradorite is becoming more and more sought after. This stone raises consciousness and helps to ground spiritual energy into our physical bodies. Thus, we can use this stone to help us ascend from the old third-density existence into the new fourth-density existence.

Also, labradorite is an excellent choice for those who are working through some past-life karma. Not only will this stone help banish fears/insecurities, but it will enhance your trust in the Universe. Dealing with your built up karma just became a lot easier!

Labradorite is well-known for treating respiratory problems, including bronchitis. Really good for helping the metabolism be more regular and for numbing the pains of menstruation. Can also be used to treat disorders related to the eyes and the brain. Acts as a natural stress reliever because it helps to lower blood pressure, as well as a way to balance the hormones.

Work with this healing crystal on your spiritual journey, and your best qualities will arise for all the world to see. With fear out of the way, your truth is free to be fully expressed in love and light.

Labradorite is a stone of magic, other worlds, and intuition--it's inherently spiritual and powerful.

Labradorite Metaphysical Properties

Please keep in mind that metaphyiscal attributes are open to interpretation. The following information is based off what I have learned during my own experiences and research. There is no one right or wrong answer. Decide what resonates with you and feel free to disregard what doesn’t.

Chakra: Connects with all three of the Higher Chakras, Throat, Third Eye, and Crown.

Zodiac: Truth-seeking Sagittarius loves labradorite because it helps expose the truth with ease.

Element: Fire, because labradorite is said to be a piece of frozen fire from Aurora Borealis.

Pairs Well With: Pyrite, sapphire, quartz, moonstone, fluorite, tiger’s eye

Labradorite is well-known for uniting all of the chakras together. But the Third Eye chakra has the strongest association because of this stone’s correlation with psychic skills. It’s believed to help enhance clairvoyance, telepathy, and connection to the Akashic Records.

Wearing or carrying labradorite allows one’s innate magical powers to come to the surface. Referred to as the “temple of the stars,” this crystal is thought to bring the light of other planetary beings to the soul of the user.*

Labradorite Spiritual Meaning

Labradorite is a member of the Feldspar family, which means that alumina and silica can be found in its chemical makeup. It has perfect cleavage, so it will remain nice and smooth if it breaks. It exhibits the triclinic crystal system, and on the Mohs hardness scale, it registers about 6-6.5. So this is an excellent stone for sculpture artists to work with.

This crystal is readily available and found all over the place. Including in Italy, Greenland, Finland, Russia, Canada, and Scandinavia.

That incredible flash is so unique that it has its own name; Labradorescence. Some believe this play of color has extra-terrestrial origins, not just the Inuits. The evolved energies of other worlds are brought to us within this crystal, with the intention of elevating the Earth plane.
