Cyclical Stages of Manifesting
Table of Contents
Manifesting can be broken down to four cyclical phases: mindset shifting, intuitive planning, conscious action taking, and releasing attachment.
I’ve referred to these as a manifesting “step by step” plan in previous posts about manifesting. When you’re first learning to mindfully manifest, the path you follow through these phases is much more linear.
But as you get better at deliberate manifesting, you begin to realize that it’s always an ongoing cycle. The phases blur together. And the Universe will always meet you where you are.
In this post, I wanted to go into a bit more detail about each of these manifesting stages, and how to identify where you currently are on your manifesting journey. Once you have a better understanding of where you stand, you’ll be empowered to take the next step forward.
So the topic of this post is a bit paradoxical, much like the last post about manifesting mindset! That’s because manifesting, once you start digging into it, is quite counter intuitive.
In order to manifest mindfully, you need to find a balance between all these contradicting aspects.

The Four Manifesting Phases
Shifting your mindset in manifesting has a “fake it till you make it” sort of vibe. But this is often confusing for people. How is pretending I have what I’m trying to manifest going to help me receive it? This is the first hurdle we face when learning to deliberately manifest.
Intuitive planning seems simple enough right? What makes this part difficult for most people is their own stubbornness. That could show up as perfectionism, or an unwillingness to try something different, and even a lack of organization or clarity.
And if we can’t nail down the planning phase, we cannot take purposeful action in the direction of our manifestation. We might think we’re doing things that are moving the needle, but in reality we aren’t at all. They’re probably more counterproductive than we realize.
To top it all off, we have to let go of all of this. Releasing attachment to all the hard work we’ve been doing, liberating ourselves from the “need” to be successful, is the most paradoxical aspect of this whole process.
Does this seem complicated? Does it seem like it would be easier to not even try to manifest something amazing for yourself?
If you’re feeling that way about now, I want you to stop, pause, and consider the alternative. “If I don’t learn the art of manifesting, and continue down this path I’m already on instead, will I be living up to my full potential? Will I find true fulfillment and joy?”
You might feel a mix of overwhelm and possibilities. Maybe even being overwhelmed by the possibilities. But the one thing you do know: learning to work in tandem with the Law of Attraction has the power to change your entire life and make all of your dreams come true!
Does this resonate with you? You’re in the right place. I am a manifesting coach, and I have helped my clients change their lives using these four phases. And trust me, it’s not nearly as complicated as it seems once you roll up your sleeves and begin the work.
It only seems impossible right now because it’s so different from what you’re used to doing. It’s an entirely new skill, after all. And as with all new skills, you have to start at the beginner level, with the fundamentals.
Manifesting Skills
Manifesting is a skill. And like any skill, it takes practice. We learn what works for us through trial and error. You start off as a beginner, and eventually work your way up to advanced level.
That’s the level of near instantaneous manifesting! Which is completely possible, by the way. You just have to work up to it.
You wouldn’t expect to bench press 200 pounds the first time you sit on the bench, would you? You have to work up to it, pushing yourself a little bit more each time you hit the gym.
So again, the four cyclical phases of manifesting are mindset shifting, intuitive planning, purposeful action, and releasing attachment. I consider these four phases/steps/aspects of manifesting a sort of guide.
A spiritual blueprint. These make up the manifesting foundation. They’re the beginner level of manifesting.
At any point in time, you can take stock of where you are among the four phases, then make adjustments from there!
For the sake of this podcast episode, we’ll talk about them in order that I see most people move through them the first time. But do keep in mind that you can move through them fluidly at any point along your journey.
Mindset Shifting
Let’s start off by talking about mindset shifting. This is the starting phase for most people. Our thoughts are what create our reality, as well as our vibration. But what does this mean?
When we talk about our “vibration,” we’re talking about the health of our personal energy field. This comprises our chakras and our auras. Everything about our mindset, core values, limiting beliefs, and the stories we tell ourselves are reflected within our energy field.
From our inner monologue, to unconscious reasoning, and anything in between, for our purposes, I will refer to as our mindset. Because no matter how deeply ingrained it is, or how consistent the thought seems to be, we have the power to shift it.
That’s not without some conscious effort, mind you. But it’s by no means impossible. When we change our mindset, we change our energy field, thus changing what we attract into our lives.
Our inner world (our mindset), is completely within our control. Where we find ourselves right now is a direct result of our current mindset, our stories, our monologue, our subconscious beliefs.
Shifting our mindset involves exploring our inner world without judgment, finding the root of our thoughts and beliefs, then making the choice to change them.
The easiest way to do this on your own is journaling. I highly suggest adopting the practice of Morning Pages, as first proposed by Julia Cameron in The Artist’s Way. Every morning upon waking up, journal three full pages of your “stream of consciousness.”
Whatever comes to your mind, write it down. No right or wrong. After just a few days, you’ll start to go deeper and deeper as you work through the first layers of thought.
I think you’ll be amazed at how therapeutic this practice is. You can work through so much on your own through journaling.
Once you uncover unfavorable thoughts, stories, and core beliefs, you can then literally rewrite them and embrace them. This will clarify your manifesting intentions to the Universe!

Intuitive Planning
The next phase is intuitive planning. Once you have reset your mindset and core beliefs, you can begin putting together a game plan.
But not just any old plan will do. We want to do our best to tap into our intuition while formulating a plan. We can be logical, strategic, and intuitive all at once.
First, we need to evaluate all the habits and decisions that have brought us to where we are currently. We’re trying to change something about our current reality, right? So understanding how we got here will give us tremendous insight.
Since we already did the mindset work, we’re halfway there! The habits/decisions that have gotten us here were in alignment with our old mindset. Now is the time to build new habits that are in alignment with our new mindset.
But intuitive planning goes beyond habits. It’s also being strategic about what we need to do in order to get closer to our manifestation.
For example, if you’re trying to manifest the love of your life, you need to think about what actions you can take to “do your part.” This may look like attending more social events, striking up conversations in public more often, wearing clothes that make you feel confident, or anything else along these lines.
You can really go deep into this phase. If you’re a planner, you’ll love this phase! It’s empowering to realize just how much you can physically do to attract your manifestation. Get creative, and don’t be afraid to do things you’ve never done before.
Now is a great time to break out all those goal-setting techniques you may have learned before. Like setting SMART goals, developing systems, tracking progress, etc.
At this point, you have a very clear idea of what you’re trying to call in. And now you have an idea of what you’ll do to make it happen.
Purposeful Action
Next phase seems logical enough: purposeful action! After carefully planning out your goals and intentions, it’s time to take action.
But you can’t half ass it. You can’t expect to succeed if you’re not fully committed. And you also can’t expect yourself to change everything about your habits overnight.
This starts with small commitments. It’s about remembering your “why.” Allowing yourself grace as you adjust. And you want to make sure you’re passionate about what you’re doing. Otherwise, it will never work.
Consistent, daily action, no matter how small, will always have a greater impact than infrequent action. You wouldn’t expect to lose weight if you only worked out twice a week, would you? This is the same concept as taking action towards goals.
Whatever you’re trying to manifest, whatever habits you’re trying to cultivate, however you want to shift your energy, purposeful action is the key to making it happen.
The best way to do this is small commitments. If you want to manifest a pregnancy, for example, you could have sex every day. That seems like an easy enough commitment, right?
Another example is manifesting a new job opportunity. Every day you could make it a habit to pursue job listings, or networking with someone on LinkedIn, or developing your skills. Something that you can do daily that brings you closer to where you want to be.
Once the small commitments become instilled habits, you can graduate to bigger commitments. Depending on your goals and manifestation, you might increase the amount of time you’re engaging in your new habits. Or start stacking habits together.
As long as you’re taking action that is in alignment with your manifesting intention, you really cannot go wrong. Especially since the next phase is letting go of expectations.
Letting Go
That’s right. After all this hard work you’ve done, you have to release attachment to the specific outcome you’re working towards. I went into great detail about the importance of letting go in last week’s podcast episode, if you haven’t heard that one yet.
Releasing attachment isn’t about not caring, or not wanting to succeed. It’s about being open to new possibilities and not being stubborn.
Rather than hanging onto the details of “how” we’ll get there, or even what “there” will look like, it’s more important to hang onto our intention. Our “why.”
Because if we focus too much on the “how” and the specific outcome in our minds, we aren’t giving the Universe enough room to work Its magic.
So let go of the details. Leave that up to the Universe. Instead, keep your focus on your intention, on the feelings you want to cultivate.
Remember that no matter how big you dream, you’re always dreaming too small in comparison to what the Universe has planned for you! This is why we want to let go and allow the Universe to take the lead.
Clinging to our plans too heavily and refusing to see new possibilities is a scarcity mindset. Thinking that success can only arrive to you in one particular way does not bring about abundance.
This is the biggest difference between manifesting and simple goal setting. When we manifest, we acknowledge the unknown opportunities that are coming our way. When we set a goal, there is a clear finish line.
Are you manifesting, or are you setting goals? We can do both simultaneously, if you keep an open mind and heart.
Which Phase Are You In?
You know you’re currently in the mindset shifting phase if you’re feeling at war with your thoughts. Or if you feel like you’re at the mercy of your emotions. Or if you feel a total lack of control when it comes to your inner monologue.
You might also be in this phase if what you believe (or want to believe) doesn’t seem in alignment with your current reality. For example, I fully believe with all my heart that I’m meant to be a full time entrepreneur, and yet I’ve been working in a cubicle for a decade.
You know you’re in the intuitive planning phase if you don’t have to think too much about the plans you’re making. It will likely come very easily for you, and it will get you excited. Also, you won’t feel the need to follow anyone else’s plans that brought them to success. You’re happy carving out your own path.
If planning feels overwhelming to you, you’re probably not quite ready to cross into this phase. Head back to the mindset phase.
You know you’re in the purposeful action phase if what you’re doing feels in alignment with your purpose, passion, and desired manifestation. Even if your manifestation hasn’t arrived yet, you’re getting fulfillment from these actions.
This is how you know you’re on the right track, not necessarily the results of your actions, but how you feel about your actions. Do they feel good? Or do you feel like you’re spinning your wheels? If so, head back to the intuitive planning phase.
You know you’ve reached the letting go phase once you feel weightless. There’s a boundless sense of hope, optimism, and trust. You no longer are concerned with fickle details. You’re allowing yourself to be guided down different paths, trusting they will take you to the destination you want.
If you’re clinging too much to the details, or refusing to budge from your action plans, or you’re looking behind you more than in front of you, it’s time to revisit your mindset and begin instilling more trust.
