Monthly Astrology for May
Table of Contents
May monthly astrology will be exciting, eye-opening, and sociable. We’re going to be moving forward quite a bit and relying on our community for support. Trying to do everything by yourself is going to cause way more problems than it solves.
This month’s themes are revisiting, initiation, and balance. Our old beliefs are being highlighted, and dueling ideals are being challenged. Mercury retrograde mid month will help us reconsider how we are communicating. A lunar eclipse will practically force us to cut out all the snags.
Get yourself prepared for lots of communication, socializing, and leadership opportunities.
Take advantage of May’s friendly energy by taking the time to mindfully listen to whoever you have the pleasure of conversing with. It will be greatly appreciated, insightful, and reciprocated for you too!
A lot has changed recently, we’ve been busy manifesting miracles for ourselves. It would be helpful for you to reflect on those changes and the emotions they’ve invoked. Avoid busy work, or wandering too far from home, or overcomplicating things.

Venus Enters Aries
This month starts off passionate and romantic. Right after Beltane (aka May Day) on May 1, love planet Venus enters the passion sign Aries. Beltane brings lots of romantic energy on its own. So when Venus shifts signs the following day, expect romance to be ignited.
It won’t be your typical, sappy romance though. It will likely be very bold, suggestive, magnetic, and active. The first part of this month will likely be filled with outwardly expressed sensuality and sexuality. Take advantage if you’ve been craving more intimacy in this way.
If there’s a love interest in your life, there’s going to be a lot of wooing happening. Even if you’ve been together for years! It will be very fun and flirty. Let your vivacious energy out, put aside any “games” in your relationship, and dabble in the adventurous side of love.
Jupiter Enters Aries
More passion and fire is coming when joyful Jupiter moves into bold Aries on May 10. For the next few weeks while Jupiter moves through fire, we may surprise ourselves with our courage. Our unique style of leadership will shine through, and we’ll happily take the initiative when we’re called to do so.
Jupiter in Aries promotes generosity and enthusiasm. Optimism is running high now and it’s going to feel amazing! Especially with the change of seasons being upon us–a sense of newness and possibilities will permeate every area of our lives.
Strike while the iron is hot, because later when Mercury goes retrograde, it may throw a wrench in our plans.
Mercury Retrograde in Gemini
From May 10 to June 3, communication ruler Mercury will retrograde in extroverted Gemini. The outside world may suddenly feel very overwhelming. Miscommunications abound, so take deliberate care to address all aspects of a situation or conversation.
Both Gemini and Mercury rule communication. Now is a great time to review communication styles, either in the workplace or in relationships. Consider if you feel heard by the people who matter to you, and do they feel heard by you?
Mercury retrograde will likely cause plans to slow down. This is an opportunity to revisit things, thoroughly inspect them, and make them stronger. This retrograde cycle will be especially helpful if your plans involve communicating with other people.
Sagittarius Full Moon and Lunar Eclipse
An ending is certainly in sight. The Sagittarius Full Moon and Lunar Eclipse is by far the most powerful astrological event of May 2022. This Full Moon on May 16 is likely going to highlight the things you believe to be true.
Think about your spiritual beliefs, your limiting beliefs, and preconceived notions of other people. These things are being challenged now, it’s time to let go of all the beliefs and judgments that aren’t serving you. And if you don’t, you might find yourself feeling strained.
This is a spiritual turning point for us. We are being given a chance to revamp our spiritual beliefs, practices, and interests. There’s no need to cling to old habits just because we always have. Sagittarius is curious, embrace that curiosity!

Sun Enters Gemini
The Sun enters quick-witted Gemini on May 20, marking the official start of Gemini season. Gemini is social, chatty, flexible, energetic, and curious. This is a great time to go out and explore something new.
Gemini is also very easy-going. Take advantage of this sort of energy by letting go of plans and expectations. Going with the flow isn’t a problem for Gemini, until conflict arises. To keep the peace, Gemini often becomes complacent or detached.
When a situation comes up and you’re tempted to avoid it, be honest with yourself. Is that really the best way to handle it? Use Gemini’s curiosity and talkative nature to approach conflict with ease and the desire to learn something new.
Venus Enter Taurus
Our love life is going to take a relaxing turn around May 28. After all that fiery seduction while Venus was in Aries, it will be a reprieve when it moves into Taurus.
Instead of focusing on our sensuality with a partner, we’re going to feel lovey towards our material comforts. Consider how much you love all the beautiful things in your life. Be very grateful for the luxuries you have, and enjoy them with other people.
New Moon in Gemini
The Sun in Gemini means the New Moon will be in Gemini too! If you thought you were feeling social before, you’re going to feel even more sociable on May 30. Your friends and family can offer a lot of fresh ideas and new information. Perhaps they’ll offer exactly what you’ve been looking for!
It’s time to spark productive, creative, and respectful dialogue with others. We were never meant to be completely separated from each other, and Gemini New Moon will enforce that. Bring together fresh perspectives in order to create something different.
New Moons are all about new beginnings. We’re planting seeds and creating from scratch. There’s no better time to welcome the insight of others and consider other pathways.
