Hope Meditation

Hello, and welcome to Spiritually Inspired Guided Meditation Classes. In this meditation we will focus on reigniting a sense of hope and personal power, so we can change how we see our lives and the world. My name is Sara Rae, and I will be guiding through this meditation class today.

Below is the video version of this guided meditation for hope. New meditation classes are released every Wednesday for free on YouTube. Subscribe so you don’t miss a single one!

Find a comfortable position sitting up straight, someplace where you won’t be disturbed or distracted. Keep your mind and heart open to your experience. Repeat this class as many times as you need, whenever you feel like you need a new wave of hope. And we’ll begin.

Meditation for Hope

Throughout our meditation class today, remember to stay present with your body. Your thoughts will want to speak loudly now, which is okay and normal. But allow them to drift away without any additional shred of attention. Return to your breath whenever you catch yourself lost in thought or stories. Begin deep breathing.

Whatever you feel right now, sit with it. Accept it. You’re probably uncomfortable, restless, anxious, and maybe even depressed. Resist the temptation to let the uneasiness win by running away from it. It will only return more forcefully. Embrace it now, and we will work to release it together in this class.

Ask yourself where these emotions are coming from, and allow the answers to come forth from the depths of your soul. It’s probably not what you think. Let down your walls. Open the floodgates. Allow the rivers of emotion wash over you, and then allow yourself to come up for air.

Take slow, deliberate, deep breaths. Each inhale fills your lungs up completely, and each exhale empties them completely. Be slow. We aren’t in a rush. Let go of any conscious thoughts you’re thinking right now, and simply sit with your current emotional state. Allow yourself to lean deeper into your feelings with each breath.

Some days are so hard, almost unbearable. Some days we look at our own lives, or out into the world, and we see nothing but pain and suffering. How can anyone hope for a better tomorrow when today is so awful? Feeling this amount of despair makes finding hope that much more important. No one deserves to feel hopeless forever, it doesn’t have to be that way.

Guided Meditation for Hope Transcript

We feel hopeless when we feel powerless. Hopelessness is believing that our actions and thoughts are futile. It puts us at the mercy of outside circumstances, and makes it seem like nothing could ever be anything but painful. If we feel powerless to make a difference, we cannot be motivated to try to make changes. This brings out the tendency to blame ourselves, and think of ourselves as weak.

Hopelessness means believing we already know what the outcome will be–and nothing we will do can change it. This belief keeps us stuck by choice, because it somehow makes more sense to stay here than to risk the pain of failure for trying to change what we feel we cannot change.

Does this resonate with you right now? Are you feeling a little hopeless? Like you have no control or influence? It is okay to feel these things. It’s a normal reaction to devastating events. Whether those events are on a personal or collective level, hopelessness is a normal reaction to trauma. Which means that there are many people out there who are feeling the same way. If you feel hopeless, you are not alone. However, that doesn’t mean you have to stay stuck in hopelessness. You are strong enough to choose hope.

Check in with your body, your mind, your soul, your heart. What are you feeling now? Have your inner walls begun to reconstruct themselves? Carefully deconstruct them. Let yourself feel your feelings so you can easily release them.

Continue to breathe deeply and slowly. Direct your mental attention to your heart center, with each inhale bring in love, light, and inspiration. With each exhale let go of hopelessness and anxiety.

We cannot heal our emotions if we do not first forgive ourselves for feeling them. Forgiveness will set us free, and hope will transform everything.

What is Hope?

Hope is a choice. And hope makes us strong. There is nothing more powerful than hope, so when we are armed with hope we can do anything. Hope is stronger than fear, anger, or sadness. We all have inner warriors that bring us power and stamina, we just have to welcome them forward. Embrace their strength, courage, compassion, and patience.

Having hope is believing that change is not only possible, but also inevitable and within your power. It is knowing that this moment is not permanent and that you always have the ability to do something different in the next moment. You are powerful enough to transform any moment into whatever you want it to be. You just have to believe and accept this face.

Breathe in hope. Breathe out anxiety. Relax the muscles in your face, your shoulders, your stomach, your legs. Always return to your breath, it will help you release tension in your mind and body if you allow it.

There’s purpose behind every experience. It might be difficult to understand while we’re in the midst of a catastrophe, but that is what makes hope so powerful. Everything will always work out for our highest good, and for the highest good of all living beings everywhere. One day soon, everything will make sense.

Have hope that everything will come together in love and light, have hope that you will learn invaluable lessons and grow into the wonderful person you’re meant to be, hope that the Universe is on your side and will never let you down.

Breathe in deeply, exhale calmly. Breathe on your own rhythm. Keep your mind present as the oxygen flows through your lungs, and hope runs through your veins.

Now I will state some simple, yet familiar affirmations that you are free to repeat to yourself. If one resonates with you, hold it in your heart, and repeat it to yourself whenever hopelessness begins to creep up again.

  • New beginnings are often disguised as painful endings.
  • There is a purpose to every experience.
  • What’s meant to be will always find a way.
  • The darkest nights produce the brightest stars.
  • The roughest seas make the strongest sailors.
  • The strongest storms create the brightest rainbows.
  • The best view comes from the highest climb.

I want to leave you with these feelings of optimism and hope. Struggle does not exist without purpose and reward. Even our lowest moments, both as individuals and as a collective, will give rise to our proudest moments. We are strong because we made it through, not because we gave up.

Struggles make us strong, not weak. Hope makes us powerful, not naive. Love makes us good. Forgiveness sets us free. Hope is a choice. Make the choice, find your purpose, embrace your motivation. Hope brings us closer to where we are meant to be.
